Teaser Tuesday 2
9 February 2010
This is how it works:
- Grab your current read.
- Let the book fall open to a random page.
- Share with us two (2) ‘teaser’ sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
- You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your ‘teaser’ from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
- Please avoid spoilers!
It’s We Were the Mulvaneys by Joyce Carol Oates. I finished it at teatime after I came home from work (earlier than I would have done if I hadn’t had it to finish, I suspect), but I was still reading it on Tuesday, so it’ll do:
Before the luckless Austin Weidman the ‘date’ arrived in his dad’s car to take her away. Strawberries ‘n’ cream! Dad teased, snapping the shots. But of course he was proud, how could he not be proud. (p. 84)

Hi there… and isn’t he just! Actually, I was surprised just how teaser-y that one turned out to be, since I closed my eyes and stuck my finger in it…

Oh, do! It’s the first thing of hers I’ve read for a long while, but this has been great (and I love a good teenage-growing-up story).
