Teaser Tuesday 9

30 March 2010

This is how it works:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) ‘teaser’ sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  • You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your ‘teaser’ from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
  • Please avoid spoilers!

Yet another book the entire rest of the world seems to have read before me… Naomi Novik’s Temeraire. (I wonder how many three-year-old dogs and cats are called that now?)

He had never been a great reader himself, but Temeraire’s pleasure in books was so great as to be infectious, and Laurence could not but think with satisfaction of the dragon’s likely delight in the new book, which spoke in great detail about gemstones and their mining, despite his own complete lack of interest in the subject. It was not the sort of life which he had ever expected to lead, but so far, at least, he had not suffered in any material way from his change of status, and Temeraire was developing into uncommonly good company. I too must profess my complete ignorance with this book! Sorry!

(speaking of no longer used pet’s name: what about good ol Montmorency of three men and a boat fame?!LOL!)

It’s a good teaser though- there’s definitely a profound bond between the dragon and Laurence.

    Take care

Haven’t heard of this one, but maybe it’s bigger in the UK than in the States. I will check it out.

  6. I absolutely love this series. I actually considered naming my dog, if I ever got one, Arkady (a dragon from the later books).
